Calling Former FORD Workers

Do you remember such plant names such as Croydon, Halewood and Dagenham.? Then former ford employee Mike Needle would like to hear from you.

Mike, who is now 55 and from Lordswood, spent 30 years at the Swaythling plant, working his way from line worker to fitters mate then moving on to become a supervisor before taking redundancy. He is now looking to track down other work mates who have left the once great Transit factory on Wide Lane, and plans a get-together over a few drinks and a chip supper.

“Ford always had the feel of a small family plant where everyone knew each other. Being there as long as many of us were you make some great friends but then when you leave you all go your separate ways” he explained.

Mike is planning the event to take place at the Ford Sports and Social Club in Swaythling, which is but a stone’s throw from the remaining plant. “The event is open to all former and current staff and will be held on September 23, and I would love to meet up and see some old faces again”.
